Officer Kicks are one of the hardest working bands around, constantly perfecting an electric live rock’n’roll show and  crafting studio records that stand up to the greats.   Accessible and turned off by pretension, the band employ an  ethos of inclusion, building a following through relentless   touring and a solid online presence since their conception  in late 2005.

Debut album The Six Grand Plot introduced them to an unsuspecting public in Summer 2008. It was cut in ten days  at Oasis’s private studio in Bucks.  Few artists are  given the green light to live and record at the mansion-sized studio. Kasabian, The Coral and Paul Weller are amongst the only other Noel approved acts. The punchy LP Officer Kicks fashioned, with long  time cohort Alexander Wolfe and big hitter Stan Kybert   (Oasis, The Rifles and Bjork), struck a chord. Acclaim for  this release continues to build with lead single  ‘Pictures of Me’ gaining radio playlists, as well as solid airplay across the board,  the stylistic video was A-Listed on Virgin TV and most recently a Q Magazine pick in Summer 2009.

The faith from boutique record label, We Make Things,  skyrocketed as deals in Japan and Europe followed it’s release. The band  gained fans from every gig, impressing both the audiences  and the bigger acts they supported. This live reputation won  festival slots headlining stages at Glastonbury and Secret  Garden Party plus a slot on The BBC Introducing stage of  Bestival.

Incredible reactions, whatever size the crowd, propelled  the band to even bigger tour supports, ending 2008 playing for 3-4,000 people a night in venues like Manchester Apollo  and Reading Rivermead, thus laying the seeds for the next chapter in this never uninteresting tale.

That next chapter was created between December 2008 and  March 2009 cutting their second studio LP, with producer  Alexander Wolfe at Dean Street Studios (formerly owned by  David Bowie) in Soho. The result is immense.

The remit was to blow everyone out of the water. With  Citywide Curfew they may well have succeeded. This second Officer Kicks album will be released  on We Make Things Records next year but has already secured them new deals, international interest and reputable  team around them.   “We achieved what we set out to. Musically, Sonically,   Lyrically and every other ICALLY it’s our best work”

2009 has been a step up with their Kicks Army of fans growing and travelling from as far as Europe for shows. They’ve picked up national press, radio sessions, superlative laden live reviews, requests to return to big festivals like the Harley Davidson Rock Festival, supporting Jarvis Cocker on the main stage of this year’s Secret Garden Party and their first ever shows in Ireland supporting The Script’s golden-ticket of a sell-out tour.

For a relatively unknown band, the future looks OK..

Jamie Scallion (vocals), Jamie Fisher (guitar),  Michael Skorjanec (bass), Keith Wickham (drums).
